Party Games
A Halloween party simply is not complete without a few games with prizes.

The Ghost Game

Choose one person to be the ghost. Everyone else closes their eyes and stands very still wherever they want in the room, listening for the ghost. You can use blind folds too. The ghost walks around the room, standing behind the silent players. When the ghost is behind someone, the ghost counts in their head slowly to ten. If the person the ghost is behind does not say "Is there a ghost behind me?" before the ghost finishes counting, the ghost yells, "BOO" and they are out of the game. If that person the ghost is standing behind, does say "is there a ghost behind me?", they join the ghost and try to eliminate the rest of the players. If everyone gets eliminated then the ghost wins. If not, the last person who becomes a ghost wins.

Graveyard Game

Choose one person to be the grave keeper. The grave keeper closes their eyes and counts to ten while everyone else gets into a frozen position and stands very still. Just like statues. The grave keeper then walks around looking for anyone who moves. If the grave keeper catches you moving, you are out. You can move positions when the grave keeper's back is turned but don't get caught moving. The grave keeper cannot catch you for breathing! The last person left is the winner and is the new grave keeper.

The Corny Game!

Have your friends kneel on a chair (facing the back of the chair) and drop pieces of candy corn, one at a time, into a glass on the floor. The person who gets the most corn in the glass wins a prize!

Find the Pumpkin!

Print out the pumpkins from the image links below. You will need 20 pumpkins worth 5 points, 10 pumpkins worth 10 points and 5 pumpkins worth 15 points. You can resize the images on a photocopier if you find them too large. Color the pumpkins and cut them out.

Hide the pumpkins before your guests arrive. Make sure you hide the pumpkins in safe places. For example, don't hide one inside a bowl with dry ice or in the knife drawer in your kitchen. Do not start the game until all your guests have arrived. You want to give everyone an equal change. Let everyone know what rooms to look in and what rooms are off-limits. Set a time limit for the game or it will go on until the end of the party.

Bobbing for Apples

Float apples (with the stems on for young children, without stem for teenagers) in a large wash tub filled with water. The object of this game is to grab one of the apples and remove it from the water without using your hands. This means you can only use your mouth. Have towels available for your friends. This is a very wet and fun game!

Spider Web

Choose a large room and take numerous, separate and very long pieces of yarn to create a giant spider web. Put a piece of tape on the beginning of each piece and tie a number to the end. Criss cross the pieces of yarn throughout the room to create a "web." Each child grabs a taped end of yarn and rolls it up until the end is found. Each number corresponds to a special prize or treat. You can even make a chart to show people the prizes! It is a lot of fun trying to stay untangled.
